My journey into accounting and tax work started unexpectedly. When my husband launched his business, I naturally stepped in to manage the finances—I’ve always been the numbers person in the family. As the business grew, I took on payroll, made sure taxes were paid on time, and kept a close eye on where every dollar went. But something didn’t sit right. Every accountant I spoke to told me the same thing: “Spend more so you can write it off.” To me, it made no sense to waste money on things we didn’t need just to save on taxes. That curiosity—and a little frustration—sparked a deeper mission. I became an Enrolled Agent, determined to help others keep more of what they earn without unnecessary spending.
